Known limitations

Known limitations & how to fix them

The extension works on top of Lovable's own security and billing checks, so you may occasionally run into one of the four errors below. None of them is a problem with your license, and each takes under a minute to fix.

Lovable Extension · Troubleshooting guide Last updated July 8, 2026 4 errors · 4 fixes
1

"Additional verification" captcha error

Lovable occasionally asks for extra human verification. While the extension is active, that captcha cannot be displayed, so prompts fail with the error popup shown below (status 428, captcha_required). Apply any one of the fixes to get going again.

What the error looks like

The request_id value changes every time. Any popup mentioning captcha_required or status 428 means the same thing.

Fix 1: Disable the extension, solve the captcha, re-enable

Recommended

Turn the extension off in your browser's extension manager, then send any prompt on Lovable. The captcha popup will now appear — solve it, turn the extension back on, and keep working as usual.

Fix 2: Connect a VPN to change your IP address

Connect to a VPN (or switch to a different VPN server) so Lovable sees a new IP address, then reload the Lovable tab and send your prompt again.

Fix 3: Log out of Lovable and log back in

Sign out of your Lovable account, sign back in, and retry your prompt. A fresh session usually clears the verification requirement.

You only need one of these fixes — start with Fix 1.
2

"Workspace out of credits" error

The extension needs at least 1 credit in your active Lovable workspace to operate. Lovable gives every account 5 free credits per day, and those same credits work with the extension. If the workspace balance reaches 0, prompts fail with the error popup shown below (status 402, Payment required). This usually happens when the extension is used the wrong way and prompts silently consume your credits — see the correct-usage guide below the fixes.

What the error looks like

The request_id value changes every time. Any popup mentioning "Workspace out of credits" or status 402 means the same thing.

Fix 1: Wait for your free daily credits

Recommended

Lovable gives every account 5 free credits each day, and those same credits work with the extension. Wait up to 24 hours for the daily refresh, then continue using the extension as usual.

Fix 2: Switch to a workspace with credits

Open another workspace that still has at least 1 credit remaining — or create a new one — and use the extension there.

Fix 3: Use another Lovable account

Sign in with a new or secondary Lovable account that still has credits available and continue from there.

Important: the extension will not work with 0 credits. Keep at least 1 credit in the active workspace at all times — the 5 free daily credits are enough.
Correct usage

Use it the right way so credits are never consumed

Both moments are shown in the setup video above — follow these two habits and your credit balance stays untouched.

1
Reload Lovable after activating your license

Right after entering your license key in the extension, refresh or reload the open Lovable tab before sending any prompt. Skipping this step is the most common reason credits get consumed.

2
Check the chat says "Lovable" after you prompt

If the message in the chat appears as "Lovable", the extension is handling it and no credits are consumed. If you see your own prompt text instead, that prompt is consuming credits — reload the page and send it again.

3

"Project creation blocked" error

When you create a new project through the extension, Lovable's fraud protection sometimes flags the request as suspicious — usually because of your IP address — and blocks it with the error popup shown below (status 403, castle_denied). Your account is fine; apply any one of the fixes.

What the error looks like

The request_id value changes every time. Any popup mentioning castle_denied or status 403 means the same thing.

Fix 1: Create the project manually, then prompt

Recommended

Turn the extension off, create the new project from the Lovable dashboard as normal, then turn the extension back on and continue prompting inside that project.

Fix 2: Connect a VPN to change your IP address

This block is mostly based on IP reputation. Connect to a VPN or switch networks so Lovable sees a new IP address, then try creating the project again.

Fix 3: Use a different workspace or account

Switch to another workspace, or sign in with a new or secondary Lovable account, and create the project there.

You only need one of these fixes — start with Fix 1; it takes a few seconds.
4

"Invalid token" error

If prompts suddenly fail with the red message shown below (status 401, unauthorized — "Invalid token"), the extension's session token has expired or become invalid. This is the quickest error to fix — a single reload clears it.

What the error looks like

The request_id value changes every time. Any red message mentioning unauthorized or status 401 means the same thing.

Fix: Open Lovable and reload the page

Takes seconds

Visit the Lovable website in the same browser and refresh or reload the page. The extension picks up a fresh session token automatically and the error goes away.
